Welcome to the San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance

Hello, I’m Elizabeth Fried.  As your president serving my second term, I’m delighted to welcome you to The San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance (SDPCA).  We are a professional learning community dedicated to providing abundant opportunities and connections for coaches.  We also encourage others interested in  coaching and allied fields to join us as well as those who serve coaches.  Our goal is to co-create a better world for all.   SDPCA offers stimulating professional development programs that cover a balance of coaching skill core competencies as well as business and personal development.

We are proud to be an approved provider for CEUs by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Center for Credentialing in Education (CCE) for the BCC.  As such, we  are committed to bringing our members excellent programming  in our vision to become the premier coaching organization in Southern California.  We’d love for you to join us at a meeting and try us out.  You’ll find our members warm and welcoming and truly interested in getting to know you.  I encourage you to subscribe to our monthly newsletter  by completing the brief form on the right hand side of this page so you can stay up to date on latest speakers, workshops and planned activiites.  Also, if you are looking for a way to develop your leadership skills, we have many opportunities to  volunteer   in a variety of roles.  We’ll look forward to seeing you soon!

SDPCA Monthly Meetings

Our monthly meetings are the second Monday of every month at The Sheraton Four Points, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego 92123 (858-277-8888). Meeting registration and networking take place from 9:30 – 10:00 am.   Our meeting and guest speaker run between  10:00 am – noon.  Check out this month’s Guest Speaker below!

After each meeting at 12:15 PM, you can join Coaches in Action.  This sub-group meets with an experienced coach to do some “rapid recall” of what you learned and how you can apply it in your coaching practice. Sometimes the speaker will join you as well. It’s a great opportunity to ingrain your learning and get to know your colleagues on a deeper level. These sessions usually lasts about an hour,  depending on the interest and conversation. It is not only useful, but fun! Feel free to bring your own lunch or grab something from the coffee bar in the lobby if you want.

All meetings are free to members, except for those seeking CEU credits. SDPCA members seeking CEU credits will be charged the member rate processing fee of $10. While pre-registration is not required, all members and guests must sign in and wear their badges at the meeting to gain entrance.  Guests are always welcome. First-time guests attend for free unless CEU credits are desired.  In that case the first-time guest will be charged a processing fee for the CEU credit at the non-member rate of $15. Meeting costs for returning non-member guests are $25 (cash, check, or credit card) per meeting, plus $15 if CEU credit is desired.  If you decide to join the day of your first paid meeting, the $25 meeting fee will be applied to your yearly membership if paid in full on that day.

EFFECTIVE October 2014: The fee for obtaining CEU credits has been reduced to $10 for members and to $15 for non-members.

Create AHA Moments with Page-Turning Books & Assessments

with Timi Gleason

Whether you are leadership-coaching or life-coaching, you probably have clients who want your help to make changes. What if you could shorten their learning curve and help them create lasting, dramatic shifts in behavior? What if you had a book they could read and discuss with you during your coaching meetings that would add structure and context to your discussions?
How would you select the right book?
Are there certain kinds of books that work best?
What options do you have if your client doesn’t like to read?
What kinds of coaching results can you expect by introducing concurrent reading?

Coaches Will Learn How To:

  • Energize “stuck” clients
  • Create safe-entry into difficult conversations
  • Spark self-paced insight and AHA moments

About  Timi Gleason
Our speaker Timi Gleason is a curious coach:  always on the alert for well-designed, affordable assessments and books to trigger client transformation. Timi is the author of Coach as Strategic Partner on She combines strategic planning, Virtual Facilitation skills as a member of eVirtual Roundtables (mastermind groups for professionals); and she specializes in leadership coaching.  She received her Master Coach designation from Career Coach Institute in 2005 where she also taught coaching and mentored new  graduates. Timi developed her coaching style in the middle 1980’s when collaborating with seasoned VP’s and Directors on HR issues in various Fortune 500 companies.  She changed careers in 1999 from HR to Coaching.  Her first paying client was a “take no hostages” Coach University student needing a Mentor Coach who “wasn’t a wimp”.  That was just a glimpse of what was yet to come and shaped the type of clients Timi was able to help.  Timi will share with you how the addition of select books and assessments used with an array of coaching approaches almost guarantees that a client will experience a “breakthrough moment” and forever treasure their coaching experience with you.

Create AHA Moments with Page-Turning Books & Assessments

with Heidi Hanna

Heidi HannaOur energy is our most valuable resource, but most people fail to manage it effectively. In times of plenty, the brain sees positive change as something good and energizing. However, in our fast-paced, stressed-out society most people function in a state of energy deprivation, or “survival mode”, which leads the brain to pull away from anything that might cost more energy, including incorporating new healthy behaviors. When we overload people with too much information or too many options, we complicate the process, require additional energy from them, and often turn them away.

Participants Will:

  • Understand the impact of busyness, stress, and aging on both energy management and brain functioning
  • Be able to identify the 5 key factors for creating a sustainable energy management routine; personally and professionally
  • Learn and utilize training techniques for mental strength, flexibility, and endurance

About Heidi Hanna
Heidi has been featured at many national and global conferences, including the Fortune Magazine Most Powerful Women in Business Summit and the ESPN Women’s Leadership Summit. She is the New York Times Best Selling author of The SHARP Solution: A Brain-Based Approach for Optimal Performance (Wiley, 2013), and the follow-up publication, Stressaholic: 5 Steps to Transform Your Relationship With Stress (Wiley, 2014). Heidi has a master’s degree in mental health counseling and a Ph.D. in holistic nutrition. In 2011, Heidi was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Stress, and she currently serves as Editor of their publication, Contentment.
