Hello, I’m Elizabeth Fried. As your president serving my second term, I’m delighted to welcome you to The San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance (SDPCA). We are a professional learning community dedicated to providing abundant opportunities and connections for coaches. We also encourage others interested in coaching and allied fields to join us as well as those who serve coaches. Our goal is to co-create a better world for all. SDPCA offers stimulating professional development programs that cover a balance of coaching skill core competencies as well as business and personal development.
We are proud to be an approved provider for CEUs by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Center for Credentialing in Education (CCE) for the BCC. As such, we are committed to bringing our members excellent programming in our vision to become the premier coaching organization in Southern California. We’d love for you to join us at a meeting and try us out. You’ll find our members warm and welcoming and truly interested in getting to know you. Our monthly meetings are the second Monday of every month at The Sheraton Four Points, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego 92123 (858-277-8888). Meeting registration and networking take place from 9:30 – 10:00 am. Our meeting and guest speaker run between 10:00 am – noon. Check out this month’s Guest Speaker below!
After each meeting at 12:15 PM, you can join Coaches in Action. This sub-group meets with an experienced coach to do some “rapid recall” of what you learned and how you can apply it in your coaching practice. Sometimes the speaker will join you as well. It’s a great opportunity to ingrain your learning and get to know your colleagues on a deeper level. These sessions usually lasts about an hour, depending on the interest and conversation. It is not only useful, but fun! Feel free to bring your own lunch or grab something from the coffee bar in the lobby if you want.
All meetings are free to members, except for those seeking CEU credits. These members will be charged a $15 processing fee. While pre-registration is not required, all members and guests must sign in and wear their badges at the meeting to gain entrance. Guests are always welcome. First-time guests attend for free unless CEU credits are desired. In that case the first-time guest will be charged a processing fee at the non-member rate of $25. Meeting costs for returning non-member guests are $20 (cash or check) per meeting, plus $25 if CEU credit is desired. If you decide to join the day of your first paid meeting, the $20 meeting fee will be applied to your yearly membership if paid in full on that day.

Coaching Your Clients To Speak Powerfully Without Damaging Relationships

Current research in Emotional Intelligence (EI) suggests that EI is critical to success in all human endeavors. Whether you are coaching people to be better leaders, managers or small business owners or you are coaching them to be fulfilled and successful in relationships, EI is critical. This presentation addresses the two main aspects of Emotional intelligence: managing yourself and influencing others. The content focus is on coaching clients to be successful as leaders, managers and small business owners. Coaches and consultants will get valuable tools for having difficult and sensitive conversations with their clients as well.
My approach leverages my background as a Board Certified Coach, Chief Operations Officer, Center For Creative Leadership Executive Coach and trainer of new Center For Creative Leadership Coaches and my background as a licensed therapist to provide both a broad perspective on this important area combined with specific actions that can be taken by the coaches in the room to improve their effectiveness with clients and to make themselves successful. The approach incorporates a perspective from my self-published position paper on Executive Coach Certification that provides an important and unique perspective on “What is coaching?”
- Develop an outline for a candid conversation you need to have with a client, business partner, employee or boss.
- Utilize the formula for delivering negative feedback in a way that does not damage relationships
- Identify 3 techniques for managing strong negative emotions

How to Master Your Marketing and Skyrocket Your Sales to Double Your Coaching Revenue

- They lack testimonials, case studies, and statistical data to prove their programs work and their clients are satisfied, because they don’t have the systems in place to gather that proof easily and inexpensively.

Dr. Jeanne Hurlbert is a Ph. D survey expert with proven systems for solving these problems. She teaches coaches to use scientific, “before and after” surveys to gather quantitative proof their programs work; these same surveys provide testimonials (as many as 868 in one survey) and the foundation for case studies. They also learn to use quizzes and customer profile surveys to unmask their prospects and customers, so they develop targeted, effective marketing messages. And she teaches them to use a unique, two-step product creation survey to know exactly what programs and products their audience wants, so they consistently create winners.
Coaches In Action
After each meeting at 12:15 PM, you have the opportunity to meet with an experienced coach. For 2014 we have enrolled Sylvia Becker-Hill to be our host for this section, who will do some “rapid recall” of what you learned and how you can apply it in your coaching practice. The meeting will be held in the meeting room if there are no scheduled workshops that afternoon or in the hotel lobby if the meeting room is occupied.
Sylvia offers accountability for those who want that by sending a commitment-chart to be passed around the table where you can publicly state your actions till the next SDPCA meeting. This chart will be sent via email to those who are participating in this group-accountability circle. Those who show up the next month will share their successes or can request support for failed action. After all: We all are coaches and committed to positive change!
